The Most Deadly Drug Of All
admin - June 3, 2018
We all have been given the most dangerous drug potentially on the planet and our parents got us hooked. Think I am being extreme? Trying to just clickbait you? Just wait and see what sugar does to your brain.
Look we all enjoy sweets. Ice cream, chocolate, donuts, soda, but understanding the danger of consuming sugar is very important. Especially for parents and young adults.
I remember being a kid and every morning I would have a bowl of cereal, typically Apple Jacks, but that’s not the point. A bowl of sugar to start my day and my mom had no idea the damage being done.
Alright, so what does sugar do to the body that makes it so dangerous?
Sugar is the only food that produces a chemical signal called dopamine. Dopamine is a chemical that creates the feeling of pleasure and happiness. Cocaine or heroin have the same effect by releasing dopamine. This is the primary reason people become addicted to drugs. The brain uses dopamine as a reward system to reinforce certain behaviors. An example, the brain perceives sex as important for procreation, so it produces high levels of dopamine during and after sex in order to reinforce that it’s a good, useful action and to encourage the individual to engage in that same behavior. Drugs cause the brain to flood with dopamine and trick it into believing that drugs are necessary and important for human survival.
Addiction happens when the brain stops developing dopamine on its own and it becomes dependent on the drug, hence the creation of an addiction.
Conclusion: Sugar releases a crazy amount of dopamine and creates a serious addiction. Many years ago before iPhone’s or Netflix, we lived as caveman. The body was very dependent on high calorie diets to survive, this is the reason we crave calories. We no longer need high calorie diets to survive, but our body thinks sugar is a positive when consumed by the body.
Why is sugar bad for you?
Turns Into Fat: Sugar will soon turn into fat once consumed and stored in fat cells. So if you are looking to trim down, avoid the sweets. Americas stretching of waistlines can be contributed to the amount of sugar consumed annually.
Diabetes: Diabetes affects the way the body metabolizes sugar (glucose), which is a key source of energy for the body. In type 2 diabetes, the body resists the effects of insulin a hormone that regulates the movement of sugar into cells and it doesn’t make enough insulin, causing glucose levels to go awry.
Adding sugar to your body can be deadly. Not trying to be the debby downer here, but facts are facts.
146 Reasons why sugar is bad for you: Ya I am not going to list them all, but click here to check out this article showing all the effects sugar has on the body.

Alright, I’m not trying to sound like some crazy conspiracy theorist here, but this is probably an obvious statement. We will never get rid of sugar from our food. The food companies and government make way to much money on sugar. Period. So if you are thinking “hey I bet the government is helping solve this epidemic”, well your way off.
It is going to be up to you and your discipline, we are all about that YOLO lifestyle. Just be careful consuming too much sugar, especially from the hidden food groups.
I am not going to write another 20,000 word blog post on how to eliminate sugar from your diet, but here are some good tips on how to cut sugar out of your life, check this article out.
I am not a professional writer, so maybe we got a little off topic. But this is a major subject with lots of details. Sugar has similar effects on your brain as heroin, the production of dopamine causes a serious addiction.
Yes it causes an addiction, but so does sex. Sex isn’t bad. Sex is great! Sugar on the other hand, very bad. Sugar is a major player when it comes to Americans getting diabetes, which can be life threatening.
Can we eliminate sugar? Uh no, the food industry makes billions of dollars annually on our addiction. The government gets a cut of that, obviously. So sugar will never disappear, but we can take certain steps to lower our increase or cut it out completely.
Sorry for being salty on a sweet subject.
